Annapurna 4

Day 01: Arrive Kathmandu - our airport representative will meet you at Tribhuvan International Airport and transfer you to your hotel.

Day 02: After breakfast, we’ll visit Swayambhunath Temple, said to be 2000 years old, this Stupa on a hill offers breathtaking view of Kathmandu City. We will then visit Pashupatinath and Bouddhanath Stupas.

Day 03: Kathmandu to Pokhara. Flight and overnight stay at Hotel.

Day 04: Pokhara to Ulleri - After breakfast, we will drive to Nayapool. This is a couple of hours away from Pokhara. On the way you could have the opportunity to take scenic photos of surrounding villages and their people. At Nayapool, your trek starts and the trail crosses a stream and then ascends a steep stone staircase to the large Magar village at Ulleri (2070m) 7 hours.

Day 05: Ulleri to Ghorepani - After breakfast, we trek through rhododendron and oak forests and across streams before making a short, climb to Nangethanti. From Nangethanti we trek up to Ghorepani (2850m) 5 hours.

Day 06: Ghorepani to Poon Hill – Rest day. We wake up early in the morning to get the best views. It is no surprise that many people come to Poon Hill to see sunrise and an early start allows you to watch it from the summit. At 3210 meters it is considered one of the best viewpoints in the Himalayas. The snow-capped peaks are the first to be set alight and while you watch, the mists gently dissipate and lines of hills poke their ridges through to welcome the sun. When the sun breasts the hills to the east its warmth suddenly takes the chill out of the air.

Day 07: Gorepani to Tadapani - After breakfast we follow a gently forested ridge for a while. Machhapurchhare is visible to the left. As the gorge widens, we arrive at Banthanti we then descend steeply before climbing through dense, dark forest up to Tadapani (2,700m). 6-7 hours.

Lakeside Pokhara

Day 08: Tadapani to Chhomorong - We descend through a jungle-like forest where the tree branches are draped with hanging mosses and the air is mixed with the scent of flowering trees. We follow the valley down past cowsheds and small houses, stopping to watch local farmers working on the terraces. At the river we cross a sturdy bridge, before climbing up to the other side of the valley. It’s only a short distance along the valley before we get to Chhomrong (2,300m). 3 hours.

Day 09: Chhomrong to Doban - Following a well worn trail, we rejoin the Modi Khola Valley. Following the valley through rhododendron forests, gently climbing uphill and pass through high bamboo forests populated with monkeys, and with occasional meadows above. We eventually reach a divide in the trail and bear right down to the lodges of bamboo near the river, and a welcome break. Leaving the river we walk again though rhododendron forest and climb up to the lodges at Doban and the grandly named Himalaya Hotel (2,890m). 6 hours.

Day 10: Doban to Machhapuchare BC - Today we leave the tree line behind. Traversing past Hinku Cave, a huge overhanging rock that can be used as a makeshift shelter in winter if the weather turns bad, we then cross two regular avalanche flows before getting to Deurali. Then we ascend to the narrow entry into the Annapurna Sanctuary. Machhapuchare is now clearly visible, towering above you and just across the valley. Across a barren rocky area we arrive at the Machhapuchare Base Camp, which at 3,720m is perfectly positioned at the gateway to this inner Annapurna panorama. 3-4 hours.

Day 11 : Machhapuchhare BC to Annapurna BC - The huge south face of Annapurna I (8,090m) provides an impressive backdrop, while the closeness of 10 peaks over 6,000m, including Annapurna South, Annapurna 1, Annapurna 3, Homunculi and Machhapuchare, is simply awe inspiring. Sunrise is particularly special as the rising sun slowly illuminates the snow-capped peaks. Walking through the Sanctuary, the views are spectacular as you feel almost completely surrounded by nearby mountains. The silence is crushing and only occasionally broken by the distant roar of avalanches. 2-3 hours.

Day 12: Annapurna BC to Dovan - Leaving the towering peaks behind, we descend back down through the tree line and through the rhododendron and bamboo forests. 5-6 hours.

Day 13: Dovan to Landruk - We continue back along the Modi Khola Valley towards Chhomrong. From here it’s a short walk to Jhinnudanda (1,700m), and Landruk (1620 m) where we will stay overnight. 5-6 hours.

Day 14: Landruk to Pokhara - From Landruk (1,620m) we begin a steady descent to Phedi, from where we drive to Pokhara. Pokhara is the gateway to many of Nepal’s rafting and trekking destinations. 5-6 hours.

Day 15: Rest Day in Pokhara - Sightseeing.

Day 16: Pokhara to Kathmandu. Fly back to Kathmandu farewell dinner.

Day 17: Final Departure - Transfer to the Airport for final departure.
